Charter Communications has unveiled a new low-cost streaming television package that offers more than 90 live channels for $40 per month.

The product, called Spectrum TV Stream, includes general entertainment, lifestyle, knowledge and news channels from the Walt Disney Company, Fox Corporation, Allen Media Group, AMC Networks, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), A+E Networks and Paramount Global, according to a channel list provided to The Desk on Tuesday.

Absent from the package are expensive local broadcast channels and sports networks that drive up the cost of cable television. Instead, Spectrum TV Stream is focused on customers who are able to watch their local channels through an antenna or other means, and who want entertainment and lifestyle channels for the lowest possible price.

We are focused on creating more flexible, lower-cost video options for our customers that include a bundle of channels they want to watch,” Sharon Peters, the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Charter, said in a statement.

In addition to Spectrum TV Stream, Charter is also launching a comparable streaming product called Spectrum Stream Latino that offers 45 Spanish-language channels from Televisa-Univision, A+E Networks, BeIN Sports, Sony and other broadcasters for just $25 per month. Unlike Spectrum TV Stream, Spectrum Stream Latino includes some sports channels, albeit in Spanish.

“With Spectrum TV Stream and Stream Latino, our customers now have the option to choose high-value, internet-delivered streaming TV packages that include the most popular news and entertainment networks and Spanish-language programming,” Peters said.

Both products are available to Spectrum Internet customers at their respective starting prices. Spectrum Stream Latino can be purchased as a standalone service, or as a bundle with Spectrum TV Stream, the company said.

Spectrum TV Stream and Spectrum Stream Latino are accessible through the Spectrum TV app for smart TV platforms like Android TV (Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku TV and Samsung smart TVs. Programming can also be streamed through the Spectrum TV website, and a version of the Spectrum TV app is available through the Xumo Stream Box for TVs.

In addition to their respective linear channels, Spectrum TV Stream and Spectrum Stream Latino offer access to hundreds of video on-demand titles from the networks carried in each package.
